I think hazing can some times be bullying. It really depends on what the hazing is. If the hazing is just making them pay the bill at the end of an expensive meal that's not bad, but tying someone to a goal post that could be considered bullying. As long as they don't like go to far I think hazing is okay. Hazing for them is like initiation, its a right of passage.
ReplyDeleteBullying is when someone is making another person feel bad and they make them do whatever they want. And Hazing is pretty much the same thing. Only sports do it to make a new team member feel weird and uncomfortable. They make bullying him around and tell him to do crazy and could lead to dangerous stuff just to get a laugh at the new member. So therefore it is the same.
ReplyDeleteI would say that hazzing is just another form of bullying but in the same scence its the same. Bullying is just an act to hurt others just for the fun of it,hazing is the exact same thing but its supposed to be fun for both of the members but its not! I feel like hazing isnt a bad thing its just a weird twisted way of becoming a member of said group. Saying that i dont feel like the hazing in the locker room is much to get into a fuss about there just over sized boys!
ReplyDeleteIt's apart of team and for every new guy they are going to make them go thought and the next year the guys that got it are going to do it to the next. But yes their is a line not to cross some people can take it but others can't all on the way that person was brought up. Making the new guy buy the whole team dinner is alright but not making the bill up into the $50000 that's a lot of money and those guys know better as the new guy of the team they don't get paid as much as the others that have been on the team for years. In a way hazing is bullying because the whole team gets in it. Even if they have to put up with the hazing for a year they will more then likely do end up doing it to the next guy next year.
ReplyDeleteI don't think hazing is bullying, it's very common. Unless it gets out of hand, then it should be stopped. "They are often called names — Incognito referred to Martin, privately and publicly, as the Big Weirdo." There's nothing wrong with that if it's okay with the person. But if he's doing it behind his back then that's bullying. Incognito called Martin the “easiest teammate to scare." I think Incognito went too far with hazing. But I don't believe hazing is bullying unless it goes too far.
ReplyDeleteIs hazing bullying? The answer is no, why because in sports a lot of players do it and it's a sports tradition like in basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball, and of course football its a sports tradition so its no bullying its trying to get excepted by the team. All of the rookies always do it and most of the time its not that bad but sometimes its bad plus the veterans look over them and how cool is that you can learn from the veterans. Then you get to do the same thing that they did to you next year to one of the rookies. Also hazing isn't even bad it happens to everyone plus it happens in college not so much but it happens plus it happens in high school to so yup.
ReplyDeleteBullying and hazing. In my opinion bullying and hazing are alike, but not the same. Bullying is more of physical beatings, but hazing is more like verbal and embarrassing. It states in the article “If you live it day to day to day, you could reach a breaking point.”. Twitter posts and comments were made to be funny to the players but not the one who was being tweeted about. All in all bullying and hazing are similar but not the exact same.
ReplyDeleteIs Bullying getting out of hand? N.F.L is a big known thing that people hear it every day. Bullying someone can be very different from pranking. Pranking is something to laugh for a moment or even for the rest of you life but passing the line is something different. Having one of the football players hair cute like you have never wanted is very offensive. Always have that respect in or out of the field.
ReplyDeleteHazing is like pranking, teasing just for fun but it gets out of hands in sports. They make the new players to do bad stuff or get pranked to be on the team. In my opinion it pretty missed up what they make them do or how they treat them when they want to be on the team. It not really bullying but if it gets out of hands maybe it can become bullying.
ReplyDeleteHazing and bullying in a football club is more common then you think, but then again sometimes it goes over the line. Icognito a football defense player has always been bullied and pranked by his teammates. This big 6' 5" 312 pound player had his breaking point from all of these pranks. Many people understand this situation and can understand, that a team should take care of its own players. But in this case the team is always constantly picking on the new guy and not welcoming him with comfort and love. Whats worse when the coach is in on it, and does nothing to spot it and encourages it. Bullying is a serious issue in our society today, and every form of bullying should be taken seriously.
ReplyDeleteI, personally think that hazing isn't bullying. People have their limits and everyone should know what that limit is. If you know you're just joking around or hazing is done in many games than I don't think hazing is bullying, but if you take it to the extremes of threatening someone than that's when there's a problem and you should confront each other about it and talk about what's going on or else the problems will keep on pilling up. In this football team, hazing is done all the time. They pick on the new guy but there's times where you need to know that it can go over the line and especially if the coach is in on it, so watch out what you do or say to someone and make sure you know your limits.
