Self-start
Last class we talked about analysis and objective writing. Today after reading an article, you will write an analysis paragraph in eight-sentence paragraph format (topic, concrete detail, comm. comm. etc.).Here is the article for today. Read the introduction then choose one of the articles on the right side to read then write about.
Remember that in analysis writing I want to hear your opinion, your thinking, what you think the article means; not just what it was about.
I think that this article is talking about how women should not be noun by their body or their beauty but for who they are in general like their personality. Their for beauty pagents should die. Well, in my opinion I would say that beauty pagents aren't that bad. Its just showing how girls like to express themselves.
ReplyDeletei read the article about how beauty pageants should be abolished. It states that beauty pageants build confidence. and I belive that it does it takes a lot to get in front of thousands or even millions of people and try to stay focused. It takes a lot of confidence to get out of your shell like that and still not mess up. the article also stated that you don't have to learn to walk in high heels to go to collage. I think this was dumb they are just using what they got to do what they want to do. also they can do what they want there adults and its not really all that bad really. so in conclusion I think pageants should stay and maybe go see one.
ReplyDeleteWell you see I think it doesn't really matter that they beauty pageants because the girls who enter it make a choice to enter. So I wouldn't really think that it discriminates women because its their choice to enter the pageants so yeah that's pretty much what I think and that if women want to protest let them its not like its gonna affect much women who like the pageants. Also why don't they protest for little kids pageants its pretty much the same but younger.
ReplyDeleteA lot of women felt that beauty pageants were very discriminatory; because they didn't really allow African American women in the contests. That obviously bothered some of the women especially the African American women, who felt they were being miss treated in a way.
ReplyDeleteI think they should of paid the young women more money in 1945. Even if it was the first scholarship. For standing in a bathing suit in front of million viewers. I think that the contest should raise up their prize each time there's more contestants. I think more of them would put more effort, to try to win. Because if it's not much money, I don't think they would try their best.
ReplyDeleteThe story "Beauty Pageants should die" has a point of view that the reader wouldn't of thought it would come. For me Beauty Pageants are the worst thing that could have had happened in this world, because women go out in the world like they know everything. No women should be aloud to be a Pageant queen if they don't worry about others and how to give their time and effort to the once in need then they don't deserve nothing.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about the article is that skin color doesn't make a difference. I think any women of color can win a pageant. Skin color just makes you stand out more to people in a good way. Standing out will help you go further into the pageant. Why i think woman of color stand out more is that there more eye catching
ReplyDeleteI think that beauty pageants are a waste. Beauty pageants are for women 99% of the time. Women can be really insecure and want to look as pretty if not more pretty then other women. Also if you have seen a very beautiful girl just in your regular day, she would be considered a "loser" compared to the "models". Pageants are Money makers. They make a lot of money off of others to watch this pageant. Also pageants give the "winner" a scholarship. In conclusion with all my opinions that is why I think pageants are a waist of time.
ReplyDeleteThe short story biography on Miss AMerica of 2001 has interesting facts, on Miss Americas organization of the Past and present. The year it all began for Miss America Pa gent competition all began in 1921 in Atlantic City. IT fell on labor day holiday and for this reason it was meant to attract tourist to come see the prettiest ladies in America in the one and only Atlantic city. But now this pageant organization grew to become the worlds largest and most paid pageant competition in the world, only receiving 40 million dollars each year. Most of that is donated to the women in the world that are suffering and in need of it. When Crowned Miss America a lot of peoeple dont know that this American women has to travel 20,000 miles and every 18-36 hours she has to give a speech or show across the country. THis pageant organization is one of the worlds best humanitarian group to those people and women in the world and has the hottest girls on the plant!! boom!!
